M thinks there is a danger in pretending to be a character, because all knowledge is like transformative. He believes that some people are paralyzed by doing things under their own name. But for him the advantages outweigh the disadvantages of writing under your own name. It forces you to reconcile m these parts of yourself and i think that's healthy.
