Dickens and Me, We're Not Friends
Dickens was a great friend with Lady Jane Franklin, John Franklin's widow. When the Ray report came in he lambasted these stories and basically said it must have been the barbarous Inuit who ate our brave, noble naval officers. His journalism betrays the full-on Victorian that he can be both things at once. The only bit of Dickens that I actually like is the David Lean film, Great Expectations - but we're not friends.
