BS 173 Exploring the Unconscious Origins Of Certainty
Brain Science with Ginger Campbell, MD: Neuroscience for Everyone
Is the Feeling of Knowing an Emotion?
Burton points out that he is not claiming that the limbic system is the source of our knowing. His point is that our sense that something is familiar or real is not a conscious conclusion because it is coming from lower parts of the brain we can't access. He concludes that we should regard mental states as sensations, just like vision comes from the sensory output from the eye.
