If you could go back to your younger self first starting out in ministry and offer some advice, what might it be? I would want to encourage my earlier self to keep up a bit more with the second and third century fathers as a New Testament scholar. It's very easy to give the impression that this is now the absolute fixed position. But there are lots of temperaments which naturally gravitate towards say Paul or those who really don't get John.
