In both cases you are going through a vertical motion. You get more bang for your buck with the squat, because the squat you move more and another thing I write about the book is concentric and eccentric exercise. There's been some fascinating research. If you go upstairs and downstairs, but downstairs seems to be even better going upstairs. And that's what I love about some can across all sorts of weird stuff, which surprises me.
