James Wilson's Last Moments
In 1828 Edinburgh, there are no CCTV cameras to capture that haunting moment. Margaret Hare takes his hand and the boy is led by the smiling female predator through the teeming crowds to his death. A few weeks later she steps into the witness box at the High Court in Edinburgh where William Buck and his common-law wife Helen McDougall are on trial for the murder of Magi Dokkertie. Her evidence will not be about the boy she led to his death, but about the murder ofMagi DokKertie. She tells the court: "I saw her go up Port Spurrow while back. I don't know who gave her the push"
