Jeremiah was regarded as a traitor by his own family and by his own fellows. Loneliness is what the man suffered. His physical sufferings were bad enough but he felt not only trapped by men, he felt trapped by God. He wasn't a happy man but then would you be? And it's his misery that comes out again and again.
