The Paternalist View of Anthropology

The argument that people's rights to govern themselves should be deferred was quite rightly seen as anathema to the desires and political hopes of colonized peoples. I do wonder how far removed current social science practitioners are from that paternalist view. There may at least be some echoes of that politics in the contemporary moment, but an Oscar might not repudiate internationalism cosmopolitanism.
