Clarkson said he didn't have strong opinions because he's saying I don't like sweets. One thing about Clarkson is that if he's going to express an opinion, it is going to be trenchant. Thousands of people complained that he had gone over the top on this one. This has been the first important test of the new regulatory body that emerged out of the Levison inquiry into the kind of egregious behavior and excesses of some parts of the press. They should be able to hold newspapers to account.
