Inflammatory Bowel Disease
This is an artificially induced model of colitis, right? So in the real world, inflammatory bowel disease is not necessarily triggered by something that's artificially given to patients. And I think one question that these authors are are kind of provoking us to think about is whether this is centrally activated inflammation and whether the acute exacerbations that are seen in humans could be mediated by kind of the immune engram being reactivated in our brains. But instead, they did this experiment without any immune activation, in and of itself, except via the the insulin cortex.
