By 2008 world of warcraft was really dominating the online gaming space. Free to play games like cart rider from next on that had launched a couple years earlier in 2005 and was starting to be a phenomenon at this point. The founders while they were gamers they had no real game production experience at all, so it just seemed kind of like a non-starter for me as an early stage game investment.
