The Advantages of the Dollar System for the US
There are tremendous advantages to serving as a global reserve currency right the argument can be made that the US is main export right now and for many years has essentially been dollars. That allows the US despite its frankly emaciated manufacturing base over recent decades to still be such a global economic player. I would certainly argue that the dollar system and the benefits that it provides the US geopolitically are even more important in my view to the international not just economic order but geopolitical order than even the US defense budget. Sometimes I worry that the discussion in Washington DC is at best sophomoric and counterproductive and outright damaging to the US dollars position.
