More than 55 million people are being affected by the stifling heat dome stretching across the southern US from Arizona to Florida. Excessive heat warnings with temperatures in the triple digits have been issued over the last week and are expected to extend into this week as well. The city of New Orleans issued warnings that high temperatures could be life threatening, especially because high humidity levels in the southeastern parts of the country can make it feel even hotter than it is.
