The Library of Alexandria

The monicr library of alexandria existed, and unquestionably, at some point it stopped existing. I don't think we'll ever know what really happened or what exactly was lost. What we do know is that, had the library survived, we'd all be teleporting to our jobs in the parallel universe of our choice by now.
