The History of Independence Day

In 1883 the US government outlawed our ceremonies and gatherings. The 4th of July became the day we could finally legally get together. We're not really celebrating American independence or celebrating the fact that we can gather together. But for our native people, you know, we're putting our flag ahead of the United States flag. Many of our native people fought in World War two some of us. That's the only way we got citizenship was by serving in the in armed forces.
