Reputational violence can do enormous harm in the society. 50 years ago, when a people were asked whether they would mind if their daughter or son married somebody of an opposite party,. By contrast, more than half of americans said that if their son or daughter married somebody of the of an opposite ethic group, or of a different religion. So this so being attacked, or, coming back to reputational violence, being pigeon holed as a radical republican, or even as a republican - for many people, i radicalism is implied. The all democrats are the same. They're all on the wrong side.
