Epilepsy Related Mortality
People with epilepsy, aged one to forty nine years had a fourfold increased mortality compared with the background population. The three most frequent causes of death in in children and younger adults with epilepsy were brain tumors, pseudup and aspiration plumonia. We found that nearly one out of five deaths in this population were sudden and unexpected,. Compared with less than one % for status epileptics.
