The Case of a Subacute Kidney Injury

The patient has a subacute illness characterized by edema, anemia, and protein urea. His lab showed that he has a severe acute kidney injury with significantly elevated BUN and creatinine. He has hyperkalemia, hyperphosphatemia, and hypocalcemia as well as metabolic acidosis. An Ephrotic syndrome, FSGS genetic panel was sent and a renal ultrasound showed bilateral echogenic kidneys and ascites small volume.
