The nocebo effect is the evil twin of the placebo effect. It works for very similar mechanisms by which our expectations can lead us to become sick, to develop physical symptoms. For some people, if they believe that they'd been brushed with belief from poison ivy, they've been developed to rash. And it was only by luck that I was researching an article on thenocebo effect that I realized that actually, you know, that might have been the result of my expectations.
