The Politics of Taxation
When you impose a tax on a product, the tax gets shared between the consumer and the seller. No matter how you slice it, the money that the business comes up with to pay the tax comes out of people's pockets. Politicians don't exactly care, not exactly who pays it,. They care about who appears to pay it.
