Is There a Moral Development in History?
i think it's also interesting to note that our moral considerations also extend to the perpetrators of crimes in general. A couple of weeks ago, i did an episode on francis fukiyama and his thinking about the arc of history and so forth. Hat's sort of a disembodied arc of history is my thesis. But at any rate, he talks about moral development. He says, the great french observer of american democracy, alexis keville, noted that the idea of human equality had been spreading inexorably for centuries before 18 thirties.
