The Counter-Fated Egalitarianism of the British Elite

As the British elite has become wider and more representative, fewer people have wanted to actually identify as members of it. This represents a huge shift in norms and I think a rather disturbing one. Politics is now almost entirely an intra-elite contest. The broader public join in only by voting in elections and expressing their opinions to pollsters and on social media.
