The Bread Line in the Russian Cities
By the fall of 19 16, things were reaching threat level. The main cities of petrograd and oscow were only receiving about one third of the amount of food they needed to feed their populations. There is no place in human history that more quickly and more completely radicalizes a formerly politically inert population than a bread line. A bunch of angry and hungry people standing in close proximity to one another for hours on end can pretty quickly talk themselves into some pretty heavy ideas.
