The Great Grain Robbery

The last soviet troops withdrew from afghanistan in february 19 89. 15 thousand soviet soldiers and one million afghans had died. Two years later, the soviet union dissolved. Similar parallels can be seen when it comes to the issue of grain supplies. Right now, with ukraine traditionally es able for vast quantities of wheat production, there's concern about global food supplies. Back in the 19 seventies, there were similar concerns because of grain shortages in the former us S r. So what did moscow do? Well, soviet negotiators struck a deal to buy millions of tons of american grain.
