Eleventh of november is a memorial day to honor those who lost their lives in battle during world war one. The royal british legion charity sells paper poppy flowers to raise funds for veterans and their families. Around this time, it's common to see people wearing the poppies. In t v studios, they have boxes of poppies on hand so that nobody appears on t v without a poppy on. It's a bit of a scandal if you don't appear on t v with a poppy.
