Massena and Napoleon - A Brief History

Massena didn't achieve an officer's rank until after the revolution. His rise to general came purely by his own talents and from luck. Massena had boundless energy, which he turned to unflinching attention to detail. He was absolutely relentless on the attack and implacably stubborn on the defence. For his service to the empire, napoleon would make him a marshal and grant him the title prince of asling. The campaign in the alps in 17 94 would be their first time working together.
