How to Use Bat Detectors to Track Bats

Bats use echolocation echoes to find their way around and classify objects. Many of these calls are too high for us to hear, so you can use a bit of kit called a bat detector which kind of slows down this sound. A cheapest one, I think, is about £400, too expensive for an individual to buy. So we have been getting groups of amateurs together, so amateur naturalists, from different parts of Eurasia,. Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria, Mongolia, Japan - it's big citizen science projects across Europe.
