Crying Is a More Acceptable Expression of an Emotional Emotion
What we know about crying tends to come from self report data. And the limits of self report data in science is that we rarely know ourselves as well as we think we do. Even when they're feeling angry, we are often sometimes relying on tears because we are likely to be taken more seriously. Tears might be an expression or display of emotions, which is socially acceptable. But the real emotion behind me behind it might be just a completely different emotion ranging from anger, rage, grief, anything like that frustration.
