Two British climbers set out to make the first ever ascent of the west face of the la grande, a mountain in the peruvian andes. It is a huge, dangerous undertaking for even the most experienced climbers. They meet a camper named richard hawkins who helps them look after their belongings as they climb. The pair get into some trouble that it seems like there would be no coming back from. But yet, it is a survival story.
