The Cold War and the Rise of Islam in Saudi Arabia

The Saudis initially didn't have the wherewithal and the resources to do this. But it's only in the 60s, when a lot of Muslim brothers who are members of an Islamist organization end up seeking refuge in Saudi Arabia that they start using Islam as a political ideology against their ideological opponents outside the outside. MBS: This alliance with Islamists using Islam has brought us nothing but grief. It produced Al-Qaeda. The Americans are now blaming us for it when in fact we were allies with the Americans. And so I don't want to have anything to do with it. I want to just give up Islamism completely.
