140: WWI Aviators: From the Lafayette Escadrille to the Red Baron and More
History That Doesn't Suck
The Lafayette Esquadrille
In 1916, seven Americans and two faithful French officers are soon at work preparing to make this squadron fully functional. The group of flyboys quickly dubbed Escadri-Améry-Ken starts with seven of Uncle Sam's nephews. On May 13, five pilots carry out Escadri in 124's first patrol. It's a calm day that concludes with Hreéne Asignale, nothing to report. That won't be the case for long.
