Efficacy is does the technique or solution work due to its proposed mechanisms, which is best found in the lab setting. When this gets out into the real world, the outcome may be influenced by other variables and this is when we then call it effectiveness. To establish this, there must be valid testing. It must be compared to a gold standard, and then that test must be reproducible with similar results between clinations.
