The Intricacies of Studying Multilingualism

I was really moved that you studied or conducted studies on Cantonese speakers because a lot of people assume that Cantonese is not sufficiently distinct from Mandarin. So why did you choose to study such a large range of languages and what were the complexities of doing that? Yeah, so I am myself a native speaker of Romanian, but I grew up on the eastern side of Romania that was a so, part of the Soviet Union. And then once I had a board of work with Russian English bilinguals, it became really important to understand whether the findings are unique to just that population or whether they are descriptive or linguistic variation experience in general.
