Why Do So Many People Worry About Emotional Eating?

The concept of emotional eating really took root in the 1960s from my research. Diet culture has a deep investment in making you feel like your eating is driven by mere emotions, rather than legitimate needs that diets will never meet. Chronic food deprivation can make anyone feel anxious, cranky, sad, all of those things instead of trying to substitute other coping mechanisms for eating.
