What Motivates Forgiving?
Raymon, there are lots of traditions or war views in which you forgive because that's what god wants you to do. Some philosophers think that it's only forgivenesss if it's done for right moral reasons. But i think they over moralize forgiveness. They see it is something that is too subject to judgments about what you ought to do. So i think there can really be a range of reasons that are all compatible with it being forgiveness. There are sometimes us sort of reasons of mental hygiene. It's this dwelling on, this resentment is really poison js, distracting me. And yo, it's really bad for me. So i'm going to undertake to forgive.
