Male and female brains are very similar early on in life. But as we go through puberty, there are some small structural differences that may be driven by experiences of gender. In countries with great gender inequality between males and females, female brains were more different than male brains. Countries where there is very little gender inequality like here in Australia, male brains of female brains are much more similar. We could look at these structural differences across the lifespan and we can detect tiny differences later in the lifespan.
