There's nothing in Bentham that suggests he wanted us to live like this. He would be astonished by it because it's so remote from 18th century life. But he would recognise some of what's going on here that we are being manipulated. Is the constant search for gratification online? Adding to the sum of human pleasure. There are pleasures involved.
