Wiltschamerlin was unhappy with his time in Philadelphia and slowly it devolved to where he was traded for, I don't know if you want to even call it 40 cents on the dollar at that time. That started a slow process of you had four Hall of Famers,. Chet Walker was traded to Chicago, Billy Cunningham eventually landed in the ABA. Essentially those four Hall of Fameers were taken off the roster. So you have a strong ownership partnership that's been halved. You have a stripped down roster and you have a Hall of Fame coach who's no longer there. As one person told me as I was reporting this, that's a recipe for a disaster
