Didn't Diet Auschwitz?
The new Tom Stoppert play is about a family in the late 19th century. Most Austrian Jews didn't diet Auschwitz, like that's an easy way to close a play. The problem though historically is that most Austrian Jews died in Belarus. And once you know that odd little fact, then you are reminded that the Second World War took place on a territory. But this little artifact of our culture has the consequence of making us think that everything in some way leads to nowhere.
