In march 19 five, roosevelt began his second term as the president. He signed a pair of laws that would prove key to his environmental legacy. The yosemite valley and mariposa grove were placed under federal protection. Federal intervention was required to protect these natural wonders. And mer's yosemite visit has been called the most important camping trip in history. Afterward, mure told friends, i never before had so interesting, hearty and manlya companion.
