Peace Is Patriotic
I think Eisenhower was widely accepted as being right on this subject for the next several decades. He understood that war does not really enhance prosperity, raise living standards and improve national health. There has been a surprising turn of events that has convinced people in Washington that somehow or another, they can do things now that could never have been done before. They have caused Russia to re-examine itself and conclude that it must maintain an invincible force on the Eurasian continent if it is to survive. That's the exact opposite of what we said we wanted to achieve. Peace is Patriotic. God bless America.
