How Christopher Columbus Sailed Around the World
Christopher Columbus set sail in 1492 with three small ships and 90 men. He worked out where he was using a system called dead reckoning. This meant firstly using a compass to see what direction he was sailing in. And because they didn't have a map they didn't know that America was in between.
