Camden Arts Council - It Was Crucial
When I went to Camden from the White Chapel in 1990 it didn't have any funding other than local authority, Camden Council funding. It was quite urgent to be able to get other sources of funding and at that time it was difficult to make the leap to being arts council funded. So I turned to Greater London Arts or London Arts Board which started off from a very small grant to becoming quite a substantial grant. And then when the regional arts boards were devolved we became an arts council client. But Camden had always been slightly poor relation in fact because it had never been part of the main family.
