Janice was this labor law case about whether the state governments could require all employees to pay union dues. The 1970s decision said that's a constitutional no problem, but Justice Alito wrote an opinion saying it might be unconstitutional. And immediately you saw lawsuits brought. Then that led to Friedrich's case, which ended up being ditched or if it was affirmed after Justice Scalia died.
