Housing affordability has deteriorated at the fastest pace on record. The difference between benchmark interest rates like on the 10 year US Treasury and the average mortgage rate is now about 7%. And that's because private investors like banks are constrained from coming in and buying up mortgage bonds. A lot of fallout from 2008 passed on to this new generation of would-be homeowners.
