Symbols and Heristic Search in Computer Science
He's going to examine one aspect of our science, the development of new basic understanding by empirical inquiry. He's going to give some examples, some illustrations. These are from their own work. Ah, and, you know, they were big in artificial intelligence. So a lot of more re going to be artificial intelligence examples. Permits taking up just two examples. The first is the notion of a symbolic system. The second is the development of the notion of heuristic search. Both conceptions have deep significance for understanding how information is processed and how intelligence is achieved. But they do not come close to exhausting the full scope of artificial intelligence.
