The Tea Ceremony of the 15th Century

This is the period where tea began to coalesce from aristocratic culture. It's also around this time that you start seeing japan's first tea shops, cafes and even wandering vendors promising i puku i sen or a bull for a coin. The rise of uji as a centre of tea production was due in part to an ownership dispute surrounding kosanjis tea fields which lasted into the 15 sixties.
