Every guitarist in London was astonished and upset at the arrival of Hendrix. Jeff Beck said, suddenly you couldn't do anything remotely flash or clever because people would just say you were ripping Hendrix off. Clapton started trying to imitate Hendrix's guitar style and rehearsals much to Bruce and Baker's disgust. Within a few months, he'd grown his hair out into a curly perm inspired by Hendrix's afro. He would tell everyone who listened that he was actually copying Bob Dylan's hairstyle.
