The Fall Into Metacognition

We became able to develop technology because of metacognition, but without the empathy required to apply that technology wisely. What we consider good or bad is largely dependent on scope. If you don't have a broad enough scope to see how what seems very bad locally is ultimately good, then you can't make a wise moral judgment.
