The Importance of Identity in Art

I think we need to be really clear about what work means to be best, right? It's not about box office. It's about, is it in and of itself? Did this thing I built do what I wanted it to do? Did I build what I needed it to be? And if we look at any great work of art, whether it's an opera or a piece of contemporary art, go down the list. They just digitized all the work of Van Gogh and published it just a couple of days ago. The pieces he did that had the most craftsmanship are not the most famous pieces. We need to not get hung up on whether the audience applauded the most
